Clicks and pops in longer audio crossfades

Hi first post in this forum
Trying to edit video imported (with Handbrake) from a DVD. Its has a 5.1 audio track.
-First small problem.
In the timeline it looks like a stereo track but its played back in 5.1
-Big problem
In longer Crossfades there are a lot of clicks and pops in the crossfade. Its sounds like there is a digital synchronisation issue.....
I get exactly the same problem if I use separate audio tracks
Moving files and even changing crossfades length helps witch leads me to thing that Vegas don't have automatic file synchronisation
I'm not used to hear things like this. This used to be something that I heard in the infancy of audio editing....

Bought Vegas pro yesterday......

Hope you Vegas gurus have a solution to this :-)

Was the audio separate multi-track files or pre-encoded multi-channel? Confirm VP is in the 5:1 audio mode.
Othewise, Sound Forge Pro is a multi-channel audio editor, try that.

Thanks for answering!
Trying to find a way to rip the DVD audio in a way that makes it possible to or convert the ripped video/audio to separate mono files. Cubase normally does this very well but I haven't found a setting in Handbrake that allows me to open the riped video i cubase. Does SFP do that?

Thanks for answering.
I used a trial version of Adobe Audition. So easy to use and had no problems wit opening audio in the video file Extracted as mono files and saved to disc. I think this will solve my problems with clicks and pops when crossfading AAC files :-)
Tired now. Will report back tomorrow. Thanks for all help!
