Client wants a custom transition

I need to create a transition using a sailboat graphic. i.e. the sailboat will go across the screen transitioning the video from one clip to the next. Can this be done using Photoshop and V4?
i know i can key the sailboat over the video while at the same time using a V4 wipe to go from one clip to the next. But this wouldn't be exactly what the client is looking for.

Why not? Just make sure the sailboat mast covers up the wipe border. Then everything on one side of the mast would be one of the clips and everything on the other would be the second clip. The boat would continue to hide other areas.

Is that the sort of thing you're after? This can be achieved quite easily with an animated mask.

Also, if you used the sailboat pic, you don't need the wipe. Make the sailboat pic 1080x480. The sail will be 360 pixels in from the left (or right if you want to do right/left transition). Make everything to the left of your sail your transparent color (white) and to the left/not the boat black. Then when you move it left/right it will look like the transition is moving wiht the boat.

thanks for your help all. either way works fine. whether making a black and white matte and moving that left to right or using a built in wipe with a sailboat or other graphic moving the same way. they both get the job done.
