Clip not filling up screen.

I use Vegas 3 build 107. I capture with an Orange Micro firewire card using the Vegas default DV capture software.

When I capture video the captured clip has a thin black line at the top of the screen. It looks like the clip is not filling up the entire frame.

This is especially noticable when I use the chroma-key filter. The overlay works fine, the background shows fine through the overlay but if I use track motion to move the subject in the overlay to another part of the screen that thin black line moves with the overlay. It resembles a black border around the overlay but just at the top.

Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it?

Thanks

Sounds like you are transcoding analog-originated footage to DV? That often results in the black line you describe. Nothing you can do about it in the capture process, but you can use pan/crop or track motion to zoom in a little and get rid of it.

*If the footage is destined for TV in the end, you probably won't notice the black lines since they wil be in the underscan area.

You mean this is probably happening because I am capturing Hi-8/Digital 8?

Thank you, SonicEPM. I was starting to look into upgrading my capture card and other expensive options. You have saved me time and money.
