Well . .there's a thing!!!

Well done you. I've very quickly tried entering some T/C data. There isn't a data "mask" for the introducing of 00:00:00;00? But I do notice that there is the same format when in reports? How does the data table inform where the "zeros<>mins<>secs<>frames" are if there isn't a data mask?

Oh yes, on the Main Form the name of the form is corrupted. What font are you using? It looks likie some versions of an "alternative" font not present on my pc? You might want to keep it to something generic to most/all computers . . Arial is good.

Thanks,

Grazie

This is much more finished than what I started so if nobody minds, I think your database should become the new de-facto clip manager.
I like it alot

Grazie,
Ive changed the form title to Arial as you've suggested. I put the mask on the form control. Dont know if this makes a diff but it seemed to work.

RafalK,
Wouldnt have known where to start without looking at your design. It helped me get a handle on table relationships.

Please continue to make suggestions for improvements or improve upon it yourself as you see fit. I am working on a section to track all elements included in a project (Video, Audio & CG), with the video element tied back to the clip field. You may have noticed the project tracker butten on the bottom that is disconnected.

Okay dokey . . just tried the data entry and I was able to put in 0000000000000 . . there does not appear to be a break between the various times . . .

well,
EXCUSE ME!!!
Evidently I cant have this file on Lycos. It violates their user agreement. Still havnt found where but if they say so it must be so. OMG I feel like a boiler room spammer. Anyone Know another place to post this file? I think Kelly is rather particular.

Grazie,
If I tab into any of the three TC fields in either table or form, as soon as I enter one zero, the mask comes up. I will continue to try to find the answer to this.

Apologies are in order. Seems I should have played with this a while longer or at least tried more then one test record. Need to remove the index/ key in main table field "category" so it can be used multiple times.
Grazie wrote on 2/3/2004, 11:09 PM
Sorry Hannibal - Is your apology relating to the 000000000 and not being 00:00:00;00 thingy? Or related to the web access? - Anyways . . I've retried the one from Rafalk site and I'm still getting this . .I suspect you haven't had time to work on it . . . hey when you are ready - yeah? Don't burst a blood vessel . . what I've seen so far is brilliant! Honest ! ! !

The reports interfaces are great . . I suspect what I'll have in the end, will be a simple way fo accessing my miles/kilometres of minDV at the click of a button.

I know this is a cheesey, possible use . . BUT .. . Supposing I wantecd to sort out stuff I have shot about a stretch of waterway done when I'm out and about . .your system will provide me with a load of access . . . Townscapes . . architechture . . . Flowers . .. colour of flowers . . Skyscapes . . . Walls . yes I loooove walls and pavements . . When I'm on my "own-time" I just shoot and shoot and shoot . . I come home with a lot - and I mean a LOT of "images" . .. often and listenning to some "copy-right" free music I get an idea for something . . could be anything . . . Funny, silly, dramatic . . AYTHING! Having this may/could/would help me be organised . . would it assist my creative process - Yer BEtcha!!

Hang on in the Hannibal . . . you got my vote here . . err . . just need to get the t/c thingy sorted out . . otherwise I'll be all over the place . . HAH!

Yeah. WTF. Did they tell you what you violated? I'm guessing more traffic than they like, but damned if I can see where you went wong. Seems like they ought to be specific about your horrible offense before killing you.

I've looked here:

and I don't see your Bad. Let's sue them?

P.S., I'll testify about this horrible defamation of your character.

Grazie,
try this
Put this string In Main table fields, start tc, end tc and length. design view, Under input mask.

##:##:##";"##

It should have already been there

Carl
Grazie wrote on 2/4/2004, 7:17 AM
Well, Carl, it is there. Just checked it. It is in the fields you say . . What next?

Grazie
Grazie wrote on 2/4/2004, 7:52 AM
Carl, I also noticed that the fields are marked up as "text", not Time or Date, or anything Numeric . . Being Text wont the "Mask" be ineffectual? That is I could put anything in there and nothing would be recognised as a number type thing, requiring a "mask"? Only a thought.

Grazie,
I really wanted to use time or number. (to have length=end - start tc, but there is no time or number format that fits the xx:xx:xx;xx convention..at least that I could fathom.
I wonder if this mask problem is an Access version thing ?? (created on 2002).
Lets try this. Make a copy of the file. Delete the data and email it back to me.

capress(AT)frontiernet(DOT)net

Carl

Also include instructions for any other changes you might want. Also If anyone else has problems or solutions, we should probably use email instead of using forum bandwidth.

Agreed! - I did try the number; date formats nothing doing . .

I'm outta here . .onto email . . byyyeeee . . ;-)

Here is the latest and greatest. Hannibal, I took liberty and added few things. You now have a filed in which you specify path to the image representing the given clip and will will than show the image in the record. It will also display the clip image in the reports if you print them. For purpose of demonstrating it.I included two images and created some fake records. The file is ZIP and if you extract it directly to the root of C drive, it will create a CLIPTRACKER folder and my sample will work like a charm. If you extract the file to a different folder, than you will have to adjust the path in the Clip Location field.

I am sure some things might be missing so for those of you who give this database a try, please let me and Hanibal know.

Hanibal. I gave it a version number so we can refer to the correct version as this gets bigger. Let me know what you think
Hannibal_ wrote on 2/5/2004, 4:37 PM
Very nice addition and I'm liking the cooperative effort thing! Still feel bad for Grazie as it was his concept and I still havn't come through with the numerical time code thing for validation.

roger_74 wrote on 2/5/2004, 5:00 PM
A perhaps complicated solution to the Timecode problem would be to make a dotnet frontend to the database. If run from within Vegas you could use the Timecode class to do the work of converting and validating timecodes.

The only problem I can see at the moment (except for all the work) is how to access the Access reports. It could be easy, I just don't know how to do it.

Edit: Is Grazie the only one having a problem with the timecode mask? It seems to work on my machine.

Edit2: Grazie, you're in the U.K. right? Access sometimes behaves differently with different regional settings (using "," instead of "." and so on).
RafalK wrote on 2/5/2004, 7:57 PM
Another thought. Grazie, do you have all the components of Access installed? There might be something missing there.
