DVDs do not support closed captions. Subtitles yes, is that what you're after?

Closed captions are quite different to subtitles.

Actually DVDs do support Closed Captioning. It is a seperate stream in the DVD. Subtitles are not the same as Closed Captioning.

I don't know if DVDA does though. You might have to do it as a Subtitle option.

Check with your replicator. Ours (cdtechnical.com) will support it if you
supply the master on a encoded Digital Betacam or Beta SP tape.

CC display is done in the TV set not the DVD player. This is an added cost so I
would use the subtitle method since DVDA does support it.

Ah yes, you're right, my bad. From memory even some VHS VCRs supported it.
