Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0
Recorder is a VIO-POV 1.5 helmet cam
Files would not import (.avi)

Thanks for the info on here, I was able to find that I needed the xvid codecs and now my video will load into Vegas (after installing xvid), but not audio. Downloaded mediainfo and it seems I need mpeg version 1 layer 2 or something like that, but where do I get the codec? Got a link from mediainfo but it is a German site and it seems like I have to buy a lisence for the codec, I figured they'd be free (like xvid). Anyone have a reputable site?

MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio is already installed on your computer. It is packed with Windows.
Problem is, it won't open within an AVI file in Vegas (people who encode this stuff do weird things).

Solution is to demux your file to separate video and PCM audio using a free utility called AviDemux. That is assuming the Xvid VFW codec is installed and working on your computer.

Thanks musicvid.
If I seperate the two tracks (video/audio) will that leave me with two files? Then I suppose I would have to place the video file and then arrange the corresponding audio file to match up? One thing I like(d) about Vegas was having both synched.
Not sure about the VFW part, but I did install the Xvid codec and the video track is working.
Here's my entire Mediainfo for one of the files in question, I only included the audio part earlier because I thought I had video figured out (but you may have a better codec that will get both video and audio working).

I have to say it is kinda disappointing to have to go through all this :-( When I saw Vegas supported .avi I figured I would just import normally..... Thanks again for your help, your reponses to other peoples posts were great (and allowed me to get the video codec at least) :-)

To sync the two files perfectly, snap the beginning of the audio file to the beginning of the video file. It's a "snap."

There are as many flavors of AVI as there are jelly beans in a five gallon jar. And there are more being invented every day, as is evident from your post.
Mpeg-1 Layer 2 audio in an AVI file wrapper is FAR from a standard configuration, and there is no way on earth Vegas could pre-emptively support anything and everything someone dreams up.
