Codec's Which Compression To Use?

I checked the VV manual on compression, but its not very
clear on which one is best for what type of job. I'm
shooting video that may include text, which compressor will
be easy on the cpu & HDD but yield the best picture
quality? When I use AVI format with Sorenson comp I
eventually get drop outs as the clip plays. Will the
Matrox RT2000 help to play back video without frame
droping? Anyone know anything about Fibre channel drives
(specs)? Are they better than SCSI ultra 160?

Vegas works really well with DV. If you download DX8 from
Microsoft, you'll get the latest DV codec, which is very
good. Quicktime performance (using Sorenson of anything
else) will be slower.
