VP13 can open MovieStudio 13 projects but not the other way around.

Proud owner of Sony Vegas Pro 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13 and now Magix VP15&16.

You can install Vegas Pro on a second machine, either temporarily, or such that they are not being used at the same time. At least that's the way it was a few years back.

Which is another way of saying: NO, there is no way for your friend to open Vegas Pro projects without having Vegas Pro.

That assumes you are the owner of both systems so it would violate the EULA to do that in this case.

Read the initial post. His friend first wants to manipulate footage which can be done in MovieStudio and then he can open the project in Vegas.

Ahh... so One-way from Movie Studio to Vegas Pro. Yea that will work. That wasn't too clear. Thanks OldSmoke.

Yea, that will work one-way only from Movie Studio 12 to Vegas Pro 12. The trick is to make sure that the Vegas Pro version is the same or greater than the Movie Studio version.
