Color correcting and clipped white

Anyone have suggestions on how to bring down the blazing white of a clipped area of video without clamping the whole color palate down with the broadcast plug-in? I have tried the secondary color corrector to define a mask of the white area but it seems as though the correction plug-in doesn't "see" the clipped white either.

A few options, I think, all best done while watching the waveform.

First you could pull down the gain slider in the color corrector--this is where I go first these days. Or the curves tool might give you a little more control--drag or bend down the upper end of the curve. Or you might be able to use the secondary color corrector to more specifically isolate your bright spot.
