Color correction, etc. blurs the picture?

Hey all,

I was looking at some interviews yesterday, and it looked to me like the picture got blurred when I put color correction, curves or brightness/contrast on it. Oddly enough, just opening Sharpen (at a value of 0) seemed to take care of it...

Do these tools generally soften the focus? It's nothing I've noticed in the past, so I'm wondering if it's a monitor issue. And how does sharpen do anything with a value of "0"? Odd...

Kevin,, I have never noticed a softening when applying color correction. But the sharpen filter definitly does its thing even at 0 setting.

I'm told that's a bug in the sharpen filter. Not sure why you're seeing blurs when using CC. Are you using Vegas 8? What format?

more importnatly, what res are u previewing with?
as soon as u add filters, preview res does cop a hammering, especially draft

I'm on Vegas 8 (haven't updated yet).

Okay, well I'll just assume it's a preview thing and not worry about it. Still, on my monitor, there's a noticeable softening of the picture. Guess it's time to render some As & Bs and look at them side by side on a TV.

Thanks for the input, guys.

Hey Dave - say hi to Marsha for me!
