Color Help ..

How can I achieve the effects shown in this video with vegas 11 pro? Here is a youtube video and the basically I'm trying to achieve the color effects shown at 1:40 and 1:50 locations. These same colors are repeated throughout . Can this be done in vegas or does this need to be done in Hitfilm, which I also have but can't achieve this effect.
http://hitfilm.com/movies/view/53fe01c45438e

Also, here is short example video where the foreground is very desaturated but they still accomplished getting some great color in the back ground. I know the video advertises a download link to the veg file but it only downloads a title text. Anyone know what effect and starter settings to get me in the ballpark

Lastly, can someone point me in a direction for vegas coloring tutorials dedicated to creating an effect rather than perfect color. So far all of my searches result in seeing other peoples work but no information as to how it's accomplished.

Thanks All

There is evidence throughout that the colorization is done with lighting gels, not in post.
Primary color corrector in Vegas should get you close. Use an eyedropper.
That said, I think the video is absolutely horrible.

Your ability to do this depends on how a scene was lit.

Assuming the subject was well lit and the background kept fairly dark then you can use the Secondary Colour Corrector to split the image based on luminance and adjust the foreground and background saturation etc. to achieve what ever you desire. In the video it looks to me like the highlight saturation has been turned down and the lowlights have been shifted a bit towards blue.

If you cannot get the effect to work well it's probably fruitless looking for any magic from plugins. Instead you need to work on the lighting of your scene unless you want to spend days rotoscoping.

all I see is one color? make clip black and white, mess with contrast/brightness as needed, color at will with COLOR CORRECTOR.
I see one small edge that is NOT colored... I'd overlay a second identical clip above, color it, then use COOKIE CUTTER to reveal the original color where you need it.

No, look at the shot at around 0:30, you'll see red inside the ambulance.
It's a saturation adjustment to the highlights. Part of the trick is that a lot of highlights in the background have no colour in them as shot anyway. Some grading packages let you do this with a single slider, in Vegas you've got to roll your own using the Secondary Colour Corrector.

Musicvid, I didn't think of gels.... BTW, not a fan of either videos but the effects demonstrated are needed.

I think that might be it for the 2nd video. Sometimes you see the red and sometimes also the blue haze on the right. I'll try that.
