Color Pass With Vegas 5

I am very new to editing with Vegas. I would like to have somebody's red shirt remain in full color while everything else is black and white. Ive tried the method Epirb suggested in the Pleasantville thread.
( http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=294654 ) The problem I am having is when I select effect range with the dropper, only a very small part of the shirt remains red when I attempt to complete the effect. Most of the shirt turns black and white with everything else. Im sure it is because of shadows and folds in the shirt causing changes in the shade of red. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try adding a 2nd chroma key fx to clean up the left overs
