Steve: Did I miss something in the seminar?Nope, I think Travis covered most of it. I did pick up several "new" moves and the option for multiple points created from more than one instance of CF.
I've used MBL2 but what I like about CF is that it is totally integrated with VP and adjustments are can K/F-ed.
I like the separate low/mid/high adjust with control of the transition points. This can be done with Sony color curves but sliders are WAY easier.
The "film gamma" is a funny way to describe a contrast adjustment. It looks like a simple s-curve.
I tried these things from a trail version download.
One thing I did not like is that Colorfast is slow to execute in playback. I only notice this in 1080p60 footage but I cannot get full playback with colorfast. Preview Half was my setting. I can get full 60p playback with a combination of sony curves, corrector and a couple of other effects.
My machine is a 4770K CPU and AMD 7950 GPU. Both are obviously quite quick.
This might have been due to the OpenGL and OpenCL interaction. Newblue being OpenGL and Sony effects being OpenCL. When testing colorfast I may have had a Sony effect in the track effects in the 60p project. I cannot remember and the trail has expired and is uninstalled. I know for sure in the 1080p30 project performance was fine with NB and Sony effects on the same track.
Nice tool to have I find it especially useful when working with stacked layers like PSD Graphics or video and you want to get your layers look = that is down the layers to fit the video.
BUT the audio is crappy. For a video effects company I was surprised that the audio and video quality of the webinar was so bad. I did not see the actual webinar which may have been better. (;

It was so bad I felt compelled to send an email directly to NB. And yes, for a company that deals with MEDIA, this was a pretty poor show. I wanted to show you guys the Webinar, but I was too indifferent towards it that I didn't. And NO, the Webinar's audio was not balanced between the MC and Travis.
The Product is waaaay better than the quallie of the Webinar. Oh yes, when I first went to dl the Webinar, after the event, the server wanted me to install a CODEC! Eh, nooooo?
Quality Ratio, out of 5? Product 5 - Webinar 1
There was a lot of phase shifting and muting going on with the instructors audio, so it makes me wonder if there was heavy handed noise cancellation applied.
For $100 it might be a good buy and Red Giant is still not supporting VP 12. I think NBCF to be a Chevy and not Porsche but I like some of the features and looks pretty straight forward for a VP user. I did watch the webinar.
I own it and learned a lot about the secondary features in the webinar so I will be using it more often. The great feature in my book is the integration within Vegas which gives you instant feedback. I love Magic Bullet Looks but having to go in and out of a separate interface to get accurate feedback is very clunky and unfortunately the external video feed from looks through my Blackmagic card does not work properly due to the way Vegas handles black levels.
Hello Everyone,
Thank you for your interest in NewBlue ColorFast. It's great to see many of you realizing what you can accomplish with the various features of ColorFast from the webinar. And thanks for the positive responses to the product!
I do want to directly apologize for the audio quality and the trouble it caused you in hearing the webinar. Your comments are right-on about what should be delivered. You will not experience that again.
If it were me I would not have the webinar floating around out there on youtube. I tried to watch it yesterday. The audio quality was bad but understandable but then it got to the point I could not hear. The level went down and the quality was still the same so I stopped watching. I would pull the webinar and redo as a tutorial with good audio.
