COM object failed to initialise.

This looks nasty.
Client asked me to change a lower 3rd and burn a batch of DVDs from a project I did late last year. No sweat, yeah right.

These are Vegas 6 projects. Trying to open them now with Vegas produces:
"An error occurred while loading the project....."
"The COM object failed to initialise."

Details:

0b0e196c-b132-4359-aac1-20eece473e2c - Media Generator
0b0e196c-b132-4359-aac1-20eece473e2c - Media Generator

Looks like this is happening with every VEG that was used on this project that uses the Media Generator, including the .bak files.

I've rebooted and tried opening the projects on another system running V6, same results. Just for a laugh I started a new V6 project, dropped some generated media onto the T/L (which was all OK) and then tried to insert the problem VEG as a nested project. Vegas just crashed, no error message, just closed.

Current V6.0d projects with generated media open fine.

To the best of my knowledge VEG files contain only data, simple rule of good coding, nothing in a data file should ever cause an application to fail.
Even more to the point applications should always be tested for this and it's a pretty trivial task to test, just keep corrupting data files with random data, if they cause the app heartburn, fix it. This I'd imagine would be easily scripted, minimal testing hours involved, I'd imagine there's more than few here up to the task of running such a test.
