Compatibility issues with Mac/PC

I recently made a project with both video and audio in Vegas Movie Studio. When I made a VCD it works fine in DVD players, PC's but not Mac's. When I burned the same project in DVDA 4.0 the DVD works fine in player, my PC, but again not in a Mac notebook. I have been waiting 2 weeks for Sony tech support to answer my thread to them. Any help is greatly appreciated. By the way, I am awaiting my upgrade to VMS and DVDA ver 6.0 so I hope it will contain a few bug fixes too.

If the DVD works fine in everything but your Mac, why do you assume that it's a problem with DVDAS and not with your Mac? Maybe you should be talking to the Apple support folks.

Thanks for your reply and suggestion. I have had 3 different friends test both the DVD and VCD format and neither works with their laptops. They both have the Mac version of WMP installed and their systems cannot detect anything written to the media. I was suspicious of their Mac's not having suitable software , but they assure me they do. One of them has a PC at work and both formats auto load, etc. I am stumped.

If you put a commercially produced DVD in your Mac, will it play? Also, what sort of media are you using? +R or -R? If you check your Mac DVD drive, will it actually handle the media you are using?

Your keyword here is VCD.

Apple has never supported MPEG1, even though it is free (because it conflicted with their Quicktime ambitions).

Thus, VCDs need additonal programs to play on Macs. In the past (I last checked a couple of years ago) there were no free ones available, but you could purchase commercial software that enabled mpeg1 and vcd on macs. I suggest you search google for mac vcd software, or just do DVDs for macs. Mpeg1 compatibility was a major reason for me abandoning the mac platform long ago.
