Here's a much less exciting bird story.

One morning I discovered that a humming bird had somehow gotten into my garage. I figured, easily solved, so I opened the big garage door and went back into the house. Several hours later I checked and the bird was still in the garage. In my garage, there is about 3 feet of space above the door to the ceiling. The door, when open, forms sort of a shelf into the garage at the top of the door opening. Apparently the bird's meager brain couldn't grasp that it needed to fly down as it approached the opening to get out.

I found a big piece of cardboard and tried to shoo the bird, but I couldn't overcome its instincts to stay high. I like humming birds and this one seemed to be running low on energy. How could I get the dumb bird through the door?

Then I had an idea. I remembered that I had an old humming bird feeder that I hadn't used for a long time. I found it and a long stick. I tied the feeder to the stick with a foot or two of string. I stood in the garage holding the feeder. Almost immediately the hungry bird saw the feeder and came down to check it out. I slowly walked out of the garage door and the bird followed me. Once I lured it outside, it realized where it was and flew away.

Actually, I have other bird in the house stories, but none scary like Peter's.

Oh, just remembered. Somewhere I heard a story about some lady living in a desert area, maybe Arizona. She found a rattlesnake in her kitchen. She solved the problem by killing it. Used a shotgun -- took her 4 shots. (Maybe she was looking for an excuse to justify a kitchen renovation?)

On the contrary I am sure the bird was very exited

Your story reminds me of an article I read a while back of some guys catching a moth or bug and discovering the world’s smallest bird
The Cuban bee hummingbird…about the size of a dung beetle
In Cuba if I am not mistaken
