Compositing Programs

I was just wondering how stable Pinnacles' Commotion is? What are some common problems with this software? How do other compositing programs stack up?

I have tried After Effects but did not like the interface or workflow. COmbustion 2.1 is on my to "try list." Am i leaving out any other lesser known programs that have a lot of 2d compositing options? Minimal 3d abilities would be nice, but not a requirement.

I will tell you I prefer Combustion 2.1 over After effects too. Much cleaner interface and I beleive it had stronger 3d capabilities. Nearly real time play back haven't had the same luck with AE. Combustion is on my to buy list as now it is under $1000 when you consider it was over $3k in ver 2. I have not used Commotion so I could not tell you anything about it sorry.

Have a look at Eyon's Digital Fusion. That's the top one! http://www.eyeonline.com/

All great programs.
Commotion has some great tools that no other program has.
Rotosplines- the best.
Quick swipe greenscreen
wire removal- takes the surrounding pixels and merges them. Works wonders. Still works better with a clean plate.
Other than that I enjoy AE. Combustion is a great tool and very powerful but I know AE and dont need another program that does the samething. I have used combustion and enjoyed is interface.
Digital fusion is cool. Kinda like shake. Your working with nodes. node is a holder for information or attributes. Then you just connect the nodes you need in the order you want. very nice way to work.
