Compositing/Track Motion Question

Hey, all.......

I've read several posts on this forum regarding the change from V4 to V6 regarding compositing, but still need some guidance on how to make a soft-edge piece of video move across the screen.

Here's what I've done...

T1 (top track) - Elliptical white-to-black media generator (my matte/mask) with the compositing mode set to "multiply (mask)" with mask generator plug-in added to this track.

T2 (middle track) - source video to be used inside the soft-edge, with "Make Compositing Child" button clicked on.

T3 (bottom track) - animated background.

In V4, it was fairly simple in that you used the track motion, and both mask and video moved together. Now, when I try to do it in V6, the mask channel moves, but the video inside does not.

I'm sure it's something simple that I'm missing. Any help anyone can provde would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
James Riffe

Add one more track (T0) above T1 and T2 and make T1 and T2 a child of a that track. Then add Parent Motion (not Track Motion) to the new (T0) track and the child tracks will move in unison with it. Parent Motion is on the left by the track number in the header.
