Compression Workflows

I'm currently working on a project that the client wants several different types of files of the end product. Basically a wmv and a qt file for web distribution, a DV tape for VHS and an MPEG endoded (obviously) DVD. Now, my bright idea was to render out the finished project as an uncompressed AVI and then either start a new sequence within Vegas and use this AVI to output all the other versions (thus avoiding rendering out the effects and transitions on every single version) or to pull that avi into something like Sorenson Squeeze (downloaded the trial version just to play with) and let it do it's magic. From what I can tell, Sorenson takes less than half the time to output the wmv and has a lot more choices for the QT render... is this the right way to go, or is there another way to go?

you could do what you just said or

frame serve out of vegas into squeeze or procoder (either one will do what you want)

or

render to a lossless or high quality avi or qt like huffyuv or DV or qt animation unless you have the space for the uncompressed avi

Well, at least in this case, there's room for the uncompressed avi...I've never worked with the huffyuv--though I've heard of it...it's a lossless codec?

How would I go about frameserving?

Satish made a free frameserver which you can find here:
www.debugmode.com

Huffyuv 2.1 is here:

Best of luck.
