Computer restarting problem

Whenever I am in video capture, the computer will restart periodically even when just sitting there and not capturing. Of course this is also happening when I go to the print to tape part of the capture.
OS is XP, Motherboard ASUS A7V8X, Processor Athlon XP2400+, 512meg PC-2700 ram, HD's are both 7200 rpm and one is for OS and the other for files, no other programs at all on the system, ATI All IN Wonder Radeon 32meg video card, Sound Blaster Live card and the Canopus ADVC-100 converter.
Does anyone have the foggiest idea of what is going on before I get so frustrated that I beat this hunk of wires and metal into the ground?

Thank you.

My first thought was to see if there's anything in the system log. Another possibility is the power supply to your camera - could the transformer be causing power dips?

You have a tough one here. If you are not getting a blue screen first
before it reboots it should be a hardware problem. Like loose ram chips
or defective ram chips, cards or plugs loose causing loss of signal, hard
drive loosing speed or defective, or it could be any hardware in the machine.
Most of the time software conflicts will blue screen you first but do not
cast that in stone. SCSI problems will do the same. You might even have a screen
saver (anything that accesses the system at periodic intervals)that is at fault.
Sometimes the Creative sound card software (disc manager will interfere
in a New York minute) Check the IRQ settings to make sure that XP didn't
stack all your stuff on one IRQ. (Bill's new APCI power control system
will be responsible for that) Be sure that no Virus software is operating.
I usually only install the Creative software that is necessary to hear sound
which eliminates about 99% of their software. But anyway, I would go through
the entire computer and reseat everything that plugs into something. Sometimes
that works. Next try one ram chip at a time, scan both hardrives, etc.
No magic bullet here.
