No need for Office at all. Vegas' text generation is completely internal, and it makes use of any TruType fonts you have installed. You can copy the fonts you have on other computers over to the new one if you wish, no need for additional software to get them.

On my XP system, if you go to Control Panel, there is a fonts directory in there. You can just select them all and drag them to a new folder for export to another machine. This may not be the case on all machines.

The when you get to the new machine, you can either drag them to a similar fonts window, or right click their file and choose 'install'. However, I would be picky about what fonts you take across. Windows has a habit of loading them all into memory at startup, so you can be inviting a considerable system overhead. You can usually review fonts when they are in the fonts window just by double clicking them.

You will most likely end up with no choice, but Windows Vista if you are buying a mainstream manufacturer's computer, but you can obtain the new fonts not included in Windows XP if you have it built by a 3rd party computer builder or build it yourself and have XP Pro installed by them or buy it and install it yourself.

Who are you buying the computer from?
