Confusion about Interlace And progressive.

Hello, I am a bit confused here.
If I shoot some video using a miniDV camera and then transfer and edit the scenes to my computer, I assume the video will be interlaced. I noticed that interlaced video on a computer screen flickers which is not pleasant. So, If I want to watch the movie on the computer, should I render it using the progressive option ? If I do so will the image quality suffer ?

Thanks,
Nat

If you wish to view the project on a computer render as progressive scan. I don't think it has any affect on the picture quality, but I could be wrong. I have been before.

You can render a separate one to send back to the miniDV tape for archive and/or viewing on a standard TV. The reason that I say standard is that some of the new HD TV's coming are are progressive scan like a computer monitor.

Yes, if your final destination is to be viewed on a non-interlaced display like a computer you'd do well to render it non-interlaced. Nothing about that should degrade the quality, but generally computer monitors will not display the picture as well as a good TV.
