Just thought I would try to connect the firewire port on the pc to the firewire input of my Liteon dvd recorder. Idea being to do a PTT straight to dvd.
On connecting, the pc recognised the port as a AVC device, but alas did not show up in vegas.
Anyone shed light on this.
Most stand alone DVD recorders that have firewire input don't allow to record from PC.
I had first model of Lit-On DVD recorder when it came out, and I could not do that.
Then I bought JVC DR-M10 stand alone and it worked like a charm.
I was able to use PTT from Vegas timeline directly to JVC. So, JVC is one of a few DVD recorders that allows to record from PC.
I guess your option is to PTT back to the camcorder and then from camcorder to Lite-On, or render in Vegas.
Mozartman, thks for reply. Was really trying to go from avi to dvd without all the vegas(7) rendering, and PTT seemed the obvious way to do it.
I do have a cam that has DV in so I could go straight through taking analogue out to the recorder.
Will bear in mind the JVC types if I should change the recorder.
Thanks Mel
Will bear in mind the JVC types if I should change the recorder. One of the first DVD Recorders made by Sony, an "RDR-GX7" also can accept a raw dv signal, works great for monitoring or dumping a recording to. None of my panasonic's can, just the older Sony recorder, the newer Sony recorders don't work either.
