Considering purchasing Vegas

Pipeline/drbam,

I would hope that after a third revision, Vegas would run like the best of them. There should be no reason (n this DAW) for any sluggishness at this stage of the game. Vegas should be kicked around like Notepad on a P4 2.53GHZ...cause this chip sure works all my other apps into a speed frenzy....

Just for kicks, I am going to pull out my Vegas Audio 2.0h and see what that does on this new box.

Cheers,

Cuzin B

I write stuff for TV and film. I have sold my ProTools and am using Vegas for record production, TV and Film Themes.

P IV 1.8a
512 DDR
dedicated audio drive

I can run, mix and render up to 70 tracks ( yes you read right 70 tracks)with a lot of plugs (including Wave ones). Occassionally after a long 12 hour days I find Vegas begining to hiccup. All I have to do is reboot, and I am back to business.

I admit that my machine is very much configured for audio and nothing but audio.

I think a well tuned PIV and VV3.0c, at least for me, cannot be beat.

That's my 2c.

Maybe someone should start another thread on this so sofo can better see the problem and fix it for the next release of vegas.

CuzinB...nice to hear that steinberg got their SH!T together for this release.
I haven't seen what you guys are experiencing though. If I had any probs then I would just jump over to my copy of sonar 2XL and that would be it. Though I just love mixing in vegas tooooooooo much. How did Vegas2.oH handle on your new machine?

Has anybody gotten a response about this from sofo?

-----Please SF - take your time with VV4. I can wait for stability----I agree totally!!!

Please have a open beta test of ALL sofo apps from now on! Lets not have what happened with acid 4 become a reality ever again.

Sari - What sample rate/bit depth are your waves? I am using 24-bit 96k. Also, can you give any tips on the system optimizations you alluded to. Thanks.

George;

Depending on the work I do I use either 16 or 24 bit recordings.

As for tuning you computer there are many suggestions including on this forum. If you are running Xp maybe you can start here: http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

Good luck.
