Consolidating masters - a tip and a compliment

This is for those of you who don't know about consolidating masters.
I'm at the tail end of my first "pro" job with VV3.

The job is a 12 minute sales video and is about 30 gig in size on my hard drive.

When you've finished a job like this, there is always the concern that a client will come back in 6 months to a year, with revisions and changes.

Kudo's to the designers of Vegas!
Not only can I consolidate the show, but it saves all the media in it's original format and even with the original creation dates! This is amazing an wonderful.'

The finished consolidation is only 6 gigs in size.
To consolidate your show, goto File>Save As> "name your show with date" and click the save media with copy button. You have the option to put "handles" on the clipped media, and I suggest 2 to 5 seconds per clip, since you never know when you'll need to extend a dissolve.

Now I have a question for the experts.

If the consolidated media cuts into an AVI video clip, is the consolidated media recompressed when it's shortened, or is it the original resolution and compression?
