I am going to consolidate some vhs tapes to a single mpeg2 file. Once I've done that I plan to burn to DVD. When playing the newly generated DVD, is it possible to loop playback with SB MovieStudio 3? I am looking to play these DVD's unattended for 12 hours. If not, any suggestions?
Hello,
The Movie Studio is not a player for DVD disks.
I would assume that you have some sort of software on your PC that will play the DVD disk, such as PowerDVD or similar.
Those are specific softwares that will come with your PC if it has a DVD-ROM installed.
Those programs can be set to loop the a segment forever, but not for a set time and I think not the whole DVD unless you create one with no chapters or menus.
Might be easier for you to use a DVD player and a TV depending on what you are trying to accomplish.
Thanks for the reply ChristerTX. I should have elaborated a little further.
Here's my story...
My objective is to have continuous, unattended, playing dvd be played on a DVD Player, and viewed on standard quality TVs(rumours of LCD being bought).
Currently, the media used is VHS, playing on a VCR. Rewind, play, change tape, rewind, play, change tape all day long is a pain and most of the time just gets turned off. The tapes average about 30 minutes each, so I can obviously consolidate these.
I plan on outputing my VHS tapes to the Canapus ADVC300(due out this month, TBC built in) and CAPTURE to my hard drive as individual AVIs. I will then consolidate these to a single AVI with a yet to be determined EDITOR. Create my MPEG2 with a yet to be determined ENCODER. AUTHOR, and BURN. Or would Screenblast be a good tool to accomplish all of this(Capture,Edit,Encode,Burn)?
How can I make this newly created DVD continuously play? A player(not purchased yet) setting? A setting in Authoring the DVD?
As the digital media world is very new to me(6 months). All of your opinions, options, suggestions are very appreciated.

This would be something that you would need to ensure that the DVD player would do. Makes sure that you do not create any chapters when you author the DVD. That way the player will see the whole DVD as one single chapter and the DVD players repeat function should be able to repeat it.

Yes it would definately be able to do all that. The 3.0 version have a DVD authoring software. I have version 2 and I'm using Ulead authoring software. I hope to have my 3.0 version in the mail today.
I don't know whether or not MyDV, packaged with MovieStudio can do what you want, but DVDLab definitely can. I've just tried it on an old project and the change took about 2 seconds - it's that simple!. You can capture, edit and render to MPEG2 in MS, and then use DVDLab to make a DVD that'll keep on looping.
