Does anyone know if Vegas comes with flv rendering or conversion capabilities. You would at least think there would be a web friendly video format available ?

It does not.

Vegas can render to several "web friendly" formats, most notably RealMedia, WMV, MOV, MP4, and AVI (using Divx, Xvid, or whatever other compact codec you have on your system).
Sorta correct. FLV is a container format that can contain video encoded with a variety of codecs. In Flash 9, one of the supported encoding formats is H.264 which Vegas can render to. So, if the question is: "Can I render to a format that can be played in a Flash video player", the answer to that is "Yes you can, use H.264 in an MP4 container".
This will play fine in any and all Flash video players I have worked with.
