Cookie Cutter Techniques

I'm looking for a more efficient way to use the cookie cutter to blur faces.

My current technique is to add a cookie cutter and a Gaussian blur, then keyframe a several dozen keyframes as the face moves around the screen.

I don't like this very well because the Gaussian blurred image is not very precise and when I play the clip back, I find that I'm not very accurate in placement.

I'd like to temporarily turn the Gaussian blur off and keyframe the position of the cookie cutter image (maybe as a temporary monocolor circle/oval or ??) but I don't know how to do this.

What's the best way of precisely keyframing the cookie cutter?

Thanks,
...Jerry

What I often do is, (assuming you're using a duplicated event below or above the original) to temporarily mute the track I'm not applying the Cookie Cutter to, then the "hole" which the Cookie Cutter creates shows up as Black, making it much easier to position and size precisely.
