copy and paste event on timeline

I am having this problem hopefully someone can help me with. I am attempting to copy (or cut) and paste an object on a video timeline. When I do this, rather than just pasting it where I have the cursor, movie studio actually splits all events on all timelines, video and audio, and puts the object there. I don't want it splitting my video and audio on all the tracks, I just want to place the object I copied or cut where I'd like to place it.

Is there some mode I'm in that does a split/insert type thing instead of just simply placing it where I want to go. When I drag objects from the explorer to a timeline, it doesn't split all events right there and move everything else to the right, it just plops it where I want to go. Shouldn't copy/paste work the same way?

help? am I missing something obvious?

If all timelines are being split, it sounds like you're using <ctrl><shift>v rather than just <ctrl>v. If ripple editing is switched on it will do something similar, but not all the audio tracks are split.

It's definitely a rippling issue.

De-activate ripple edits and your clip will paste to the right of your timeline cursor.

thank you! that was it! I must have turned that on by clicking the button. It's off now and doing what I expect.
