Copy FXs

Is there any way to copy effects from one clip to another? For example, if I set up one event to have a combination of filters and I want one or more others to have the same, is there a way to copy (sort of like copy format in a word processor)? I can save the presets for each type of effect, but not for the combination of effects. I could probably accomplish the same thing if I could change the media file for a clip after doing a copy/paste, but I couldn't figure out how to do that either (it displays the file name in the properties, but doesn't let me change the file). I'd like to copy all of the effects including the timeline.

I figure there must be a way to do this and I'm just to dumb to figure it out since it seems like a normal sort of operation.

A snippet from the Vegas manual (p. 141) that might help:

"Using takes to copy event attributes to a new event"

You can duplicate an event and replace it with another event while retaining the attributes (switches, envelopes, filters, etc.) of the original. Adding takes to a duplicated event in this way is an excellent method of maintaining consistency between a number of events in a project that may use a complex set of effects or plug-ins. First, duplicate an event by holding the Ctrl key while dragging an event. Then, replace the original event by adding the new file as a take and then deleting the original take.

(To add a file to an event as a take: Right-click and drag a file from the Explorer or Media Pool to the event, and select Add as Takes from the shortcut menu. To delete a take: Right-click the event, and from the shortcut menu, choose Take -> Delete. In the dialog box that appears, select the Take to delete.)

Very cool. Thanks for the quick answer. I'll reread that section of the book and try it out when I get home tonight.
