"Copy Media With Project" ??

Never tried this before, but today I wanted to transfer a project from one computer (at work) to another computer (at home).

I did a SAVE AS with COPY MEDIA WITH PROJECT and burned (what I thought was) the resulting files to a DVD. When I tried to open the veg at home half of the media was missing .. and .. the missing files had a path that referenced the work computer.

I may have made a mistake when saving by not creating a new folder for the files, but saved to an existing folder that had other files. I guess I may have not selected all the files to burn to the DVD. I did copy all the files in that folder with todays date ... but, as I said, it didn't work when I tried to open the project.

Assuming you saved with a new project file name (you did, didn't you?), are you sure this new .veg file is the one you tried to open?

I find this method to be cumbersome and has other issues too, such as splitting audio and video into separate files and renaming them. My preferred method is to corral all media for the project into a new folder for that project when i start. I can then move this entire folder as-is to a different computer. No fuss nor muss; it Just Plain Works.

agree with chienworks.

all my projects are in self contained folders - with everything 'copied' there, eg, production music from a different folder, graphics , etc.

simply copy folder to new pc via network or hd, whatever, and it's all there good to go.....
