Copy Pan/Crop Key Frame settings? Help!

Grazie wrote on 3/29/2003, 5:45 AM
Okay - I'm trying to do an SLR still camera shutter effect. I have a sound that works very neatly - yer know the one: whoooosh:Click+whoooosh:Click - okay.

"Using a Named Pan/Crop Setting"
What I'm wanting to do is to have the very short clip Pan out quickly - split second - Zoom in - split second . . . and then roll onto the remainder of the T/L clip at the correct size - yeah?. I've created 4 K/Fs in P/C for the Pan-Out and Zoom-In. I've saved and named this Zoom-in/Zoom-out split second effect in "Event Pan/Crop" as "Grazie SLR Camera Shot". Now I want to repeat this P/C effect in other split second shots further down the T/L. I go to the clip, try to apply "Grazie SLR Camera Shot" and I only get the 1st and Last K/F. I don't get the intermediate K/Fs. What am I doing wrong? How do I get the Pan/Crop effect repeated?

Using "Paste Attributes"
I've also used the "Copy" & "Paste Attributes". Yes this does give me "more" K/Fs, but too many. It gives me twice as many K/Fs I need. Again what am I doing wrong?

Regards,

Grazie

Sorry G,

>>>>"What I'm wanting to do is to have the very short clip Pan out quickly - split second - Zoom in - split second . . . and then roll onto the remainder of the T/L clip at the correct size - yeah?. "<<<<<

I'm not quite sure of the onscreen look... does the image:

"Pan out quickly" = slides into frame normal media size

"split second" = pause

"Zoom in" = enlarges

"split second" = pause

"roll onto the remainder of the T/L clip at the correct size" = zooms back to restored (media) size...

If you have the KFs and the moves to your liking you might try copying the event and dropping the next shot on as a "Take"...

As for the paste attributes, not sure why it's adding KFs...

P.S. Whoops, sorry... forgot one part: Saving presets applies to one KF, not a sequence. HTH, MPH

Grazie,

Open the one that works, select ALL of the keyframes, Press CTRL-C.

Open the new one, Select the first keyframe, Press CTRL-V.

That should copy ALL of the keyframes.

Thanks Marty,

Yes - you have got it exactly correct.

"Saving presets applies to one KF, not a sequence. " Okay, understood. Bummer!

" . . you might try copying the event and dropping the next shot on as a "Take"..." This I don't understand - yet! What is the difference between a "Take" and an "Event" - this must be some truly basic stuff I'm getting my head around.

"As for the paste attributes, not sure why it's adding KFs..." Hmmm... is this a bug I see before me? . . Could you or others check it out please? At the moment I'm having to "delete" the non-needed K/Fs - it's a bit of a bind, and to tell you the truth, a tad silly and infuriating.

It's a neat little series of a chap showing me some beautiful screen prints - wonderful art work! He pauses to extract yet another masterpiece and holds it upo to the light - gorgeous stuff!! The Grazie SLR camera effect just gives it a little more pace and drama - yeah?

I'm waiting, while I'm carrying on editing.

Thanks again Marty,

Grazie

Hiyah Jetdv! I've put in a reply to Marty - Please read it, and think on.

I did try selecting each K/F by holding down the Shift key and select each one - only 4 in all. This didn't do it. I'll try again with the CTRL key. Yes I did read the Manual - forgot: DOAH . . .

Anyway, see if you can repeat the "bug" when I Paste Attribute,

Cheers

Grazie,

Can you be so kind as to send me the veg for that? I was trying to do the same but with the 3-d fly-in/out transition(not sure if it will work). I have three vid files that I want to sequence, that they fly in and not fill the screen, and have the other fly in in the same manner, replacing the other one. They swoosh in from a corner and are replaced by another swooshed in file somwhere in the middle of the screen. Also, can you send me the sound file too? Thanks in advance!

Hiyah ReneH! "Also, can you send me the sound file too? "

Try this link:

Regarding the .veg - it's really only a variation of the Pan/Crop at >1second< K/F time interval.

Hi Grazie,

The "Takes" feature is unique and elegant... you can drag additional selections of media on top of another in the Timeline using your right-mouse button, and selecting takes from the menu...

Vegas will add the media into the event, whilst keeping the event properties (P/C, FX, etc.)... you can then use the T key to switch between all the takes you have piled onto the event.
