Copy/Paste between projects without space

You have a series of events on the timeline: ABCDEFG

And decide you need events B and F together in a new project.

So, you copy B and F, open a new instance of Movie Studio and paste.

But, you actually get: B F

on your new timeline, which includes the space from B to F.

Is there some way, other than making multiple copy/paste operations to move events without including the space between them?

I bring this up because I'm moving selected events from a dozen projects into one new "highlights" project and it's driving me crazy making sure I have all the spaces closed up, and no, post-edit ripple doesn't work.

Thanks,

That's because you haven't performed an edit that would induce a ripple. Simplest thing would be to double-click in the empty space to highlight it and press the Delete key. If you have ripple enabled then the gap will close up automatically.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I do if the space between events is large, if it is small I usually just pull the the events together. However, when I copy/paste 20-30 or more non-contiguous events from several projects to another it really can become a bore having to remove all the spaces.

Looks as if no-one has found a technique to paste without the spaces.

Thanks again.

I don't see how this could be possible, at least with the way Vegas works now. When you select the multiple events, among other things you're also copying the spacing between them and this information gets pasted too. It's just the way Vegas operates.

With the Pro version you can run a script to eliminate the spaces. Unfortunately scripts are not available with the Studio version. I suppose you could always submit a feature request to the development team.
