Did you name the image when asked?

It should appear in the Media Pool.

You did click on the icon above the preview window, not the one on the menu bar at the top of Vegas.

No, it doesn't ask me for a name of the image. Nothing happens at all. It's supposed to copy the image to the clipboard so there's no need to name the image, I think. Yes, I click on the icon above preview window.

Have you got the external monitor icon active? If so, the floppy disk icon over the preview window is grayed and won't do anything.

Copy to Clipboard lets you Paste into other applications. It won't paste into Vegas. To get the timeline image into a still for use in Vegas, use the disk icon to save to a disk file, which will automatically be added to your Media Pool so you can place it on the timeline.

What SonicDennis is sayingis:
1. Place the cursor to the position on the timeline that you want for the still
picture.
2. Make sure the preview window settings are the same size as your timeline footage
3. Make sure the external preview to monitor is off.
4. Press the copy snapshot button
5. Press the next button next to that button. A menu will pop up asking for a name
for the jpg picture. Give it a name and click save. The picture will then
appear in the media window. Drag the picture where you want it on the timeline.
6. If it doesn't work go to your options menu and make sure that the still picture
option is checked.

SonicDennis,
I see. It works as you said. After reading through this forum I thought I could use either Copy Snapshot or Save Timeline Snapshot to File icon for creating stills in VV, but I was wrong. Thank you for explanation.
