Wonder if anyone can help.
To get a still image I use "copy to clipboard", but can't seem to paste it on a track (paste command is greyed out). Ok if I save it to a file first.
Using V4.
I don't think you can. A track contains references to files. What's in the clipboard isn't really a file, so you have to save it into a file first before it can be placed on a track. If you could do what you are suggesting then the next time you copy something the contents of the clipboard would change and the image you copied wouldn't be available any more and therefore wouldn't be on the track anymore. It has to be stored somewhere in order to be used.
You can use the copy to clipboard option and paste the frame in a photo-editing program for editing and processing the image without having to create a file of it first.
It also bypasses internal handling (of pixels and resizing) that occurs when you export a frame to a file. (In PAL when you export a frame at Best/Full it saves an image of 786X576 size. If you copy the frame to the clipboard and you paste it in a photo-editing program it will create an image of 720X576 size).
Thanks, at least I know now - the manual justs gives a brief desc of it, but no uses mentioned.
The only other reason I've found for it is to do a split screen in the preview window (current image with clipboard).
