Copying PART of a video clip

Hi all,
I made a video which contains a one-minute video clip. I cut this into 4 x 15 second clips and then removed 5 seconds from each = 4 x 10 second clips.
I have now decided to use my (faster) laptop to to editing and have tried to copy these four clips onto a memory stick, but without success. The original file is present but the clips on the time-line show "media offline"
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to achieve this please?
Best Regard
HoraceM

Save the project and check "Save media"
Then take the whole thing to the other machine.

Although, "save media" not strictly necessary. Copying the .vf project file and the original clip to the other computer are sufficient. I dislike the 'save media' option as it generates a lot of extra files, renames them with longer complicated names, and usually separates the audio out into separate files from the video. For a case like this one it can be more of an aggravation than an assist.

Note to HoraceM, you haven't actually cut the original clip into four clips. You've merely divided the "event" on the timeline to four shorter "events", which still refer to and use the whole original clip from the hard drive. Vegas is a non-destructive editor, which means that it never alters the original files.

Yes, after reading some stuff along the same lines, I re-copied every file I thought I'd used in the original vid. It's a bit late now but it certainly looks as though it has improved things. Full check tomorrow.
Thanks guys
