Corrupted MXF Thumbnails

Hi everybody. I've recently got a Cannon XF100, my first camcorder!, and really enjoying it, previously using DSLR.

Camera files are MXF and VP edits very smoothly. Problem is that the thumbnails in the media window get corrupted after a while. I know this has been raised before and the solution was to delete the thumbnail files before booting up VP, this works, but not for long. After a few minutes of editing the corruptions start, VP often showing the wrong thumbnail completely. It's very annoying to have to keep deleting the thumbnail files and restarting VP. I have a big project on hand with up to 2000 clips, is there any solution? Is this a windows issue or a VP issue? I can't be the only VP user with an XF camcorder. Any help would be appreciated.

Using a Dell laptop with Windows 8.1 and latest version of VP (444).

Many thanks

Martin, did you use the Canon Utility to get your MXF files into your PC? - I'm running an XF300.

How much free-ed up space have you got?

Grazie, many thanks for the reply. Yes I used the xf utility whilst on the go but then scrapped the metadata and dumped the MXF files together in more sensible folders for easier use in VP if that makes sense.

The MXF files are on my laptop hard drive (1TB with 200GB free) and are the ones VP is using for the edit. They are backed up on an expansion drive which I could use instead if it might help.
