Good find there...

Maybe DSE or someone can tell us if this is co-sponsored by Sony?

The way the rules page mentions Sony, it appears to be co-sponsored by Sony. If so, does that mean we can use the Sony and/or Vegas logos and trademarks?

intel i-4790k / Asus Z97 Pro / 32GB Crucial RAM / Nvidia GTX 560Ti / 500GB Samsung SSD / 256 GB Samsung SSD / 2-WDC 4TB Black HDD's / 2-WDC 1TB HDD's / 2-HP 23" Monitors / Various MIDI gear, controllers and audio interfaces

I don't think Sony is a co-sponsor of this event which is why this contest is not mentioned on this forum. However, you can definitely assume informal cooperation between the Sony MediaSoftware folks. In a previous VASST contest, I used the Vegas 5 box image in my video without a word being said.

If you are doing video that would promote Vegas, you will have no problems.
If you were denigrating Vegas or harming the value of their trademark, then they may be more inclined to get involved.

last I knew the Sony Vegas logos etc... were ok'd for use in previous contests by sony.

that is not fact only vauge recallection.

The Sony logo isn't incorporated in the page at all. Anywhere.
The "8" you see just happens to be a frame I stopped on when I created the graphic, it's a capture from a bit of Prelinger Archives and modified in Photoshop.
Others have used the Sony products in their previous entries relating to contests, I don't think anyone at Sony will have kittens should you use them.
This is obviously our last contest of the year, so we've tried to offer some really sweet prizes....I hope y'all have fun with it. Looking forward to seeing those entries!

Spot, I see that in the list of prizes (in the details of the voucher for 3rd prize) that there is mention of a product called "infinitiCAM", but I can't find any details of infinitiCAM on the VASST site.

I'm guessing that this is the "secret" new app that was previewed a week or so ago in New York. If so (or even if not) are there any details available yet to those of us who weren't at the meeting? I'm intrigued by the name.

Thanks in advance

I guess it's Ok to ask questions about the contest here .. One is to submit a .veg file - video is not allowed but stills and audio are .... hhhmm - a veg file will not in itself contain the stills or audio - so thay have to be uploaded seperatley - right?

Then how does this differ from including video files that would accompany a .veg file?

Zip the images and audio in together with the .veg file and submit the .zip file.

Their rules. They say no video so don't include video. I suspect this is because in general even tiny video files tend to be much larger than large image and audio files.

Mark,

This was the new app that was preview in NYC last week.

I'm not going to mention any of the features, other than the fact that it does let you look into the 4th and 5th dimenions. I used it on some footage I shot around my house and I found my missing socks which alone saved me the price of the software.

You always have the greatest of the wierd posts, Buster. I enjoy the way your brain works. lol

PS. I see you edited it, but, "I used [it] on some...", is what you wanted, no?

Well...cat's sorta outta the bag now...so a sneak preview for y'all
infinitiCAM does as many cams as you think you need. It's also a pretty cool effect. When we launch it, you'll hear about an organization using it for a really cool purpose.

Can't wait for the release guys :)

Hi DSE,
Can you tell me if we can take part in this contest when we are not living in USA ?
Thx
Spot|DSE wrote on 11/16/2005, 4:50 AM
Rosebud, anyone can participate, so long as they are a Vegas user.

I haven't yet read an actual description of this contest, what do I do again?
FrigidNDEditing wrote on 11/16/2005, 8:47 PM
"This contest is quite simple.
Countdowns and Leaders for Sony Vegas.

You can use stills, you can use graphics from your graphic editor. You can use generated media from the application. No video, because users need to be able to download these so they can vote on them. You may upload a zip file containing a veg, or just a veg file if it is made up of only generated media. If you use audio, you can use tones in mp3 or PCA format to keep file sizes small"

Direct from the horses....er... mouth :) (joking)

:) :) :)

..I only have Movie Studio Platinum..

it only has .vf files, will this work?...

..also, how do you upload to the VASST site? I don't see a way to actually enter the contest with an entry.
Spot|DSE wrote on 11/20/2005, 9:08 PM
Hmmm....You should be able to upload .vf files. I'll have to give that a try. Vegas users can open your files, but you won't be able to open theirs.
As far as entering/uploading, when you click the "enter to win" button, you'll be able to point to a file to upload. It's down at this particular moment, as we're doing some housecleaning from former contests, but it'll be back on tonight.

..I was away from my PC for awhile..
Thanks Spot..
..I was looking forward to seeing some of the countdown leaders, but now it looks like i'll miss out on these....bummer
tumbleweed wrote on 11/22/2005, 8:13 PM
tried to upload a zip file... no luck ..
..it says in the upper right cornerof the screen, that a .zip file is not an allowed type...
Chienworks wrote on 11/23/2005, 4:09 AM
Interesting. I didn't see any entries listed so i was assuming that this time around we wouldn't be able to view any until after the submission period was over. Imagine my surprise to discover i was the first person to submit an entry! Oh my!
