Crash alot whenever I wanted to do Nesting

VEGAS Pro 17 crash alot when I wanted to nest. I have trust issue with VEGAS nesting style using VEG file

I got a lot of crashes when using nested projects, but oddly, it happened when I wasn't looking at Vegas (checking email.) I went into preferences and turned off "close media files when not the active application" and it seems to help (no crashes in an hour of editing now).
