crash/ text placement/keyframe animation

If I try to animate a generated text media (default text), In the keyframe animation window the "sync cursor lock" button is grayed out. Which means I can't view my text animate over the background video. If I open the track motion window and mess around in the keyframe animator the sync cursor lock button works fine.
What I'm trying to do is animated my text to make it appear that the subject (a person in my video) is pushing the text. It's very hard to get that synced when I can't nudge the frames in the keyframe animation window. If I drag my mouse I can see just the text move but not in sync with the video.
One last question... My computer has been crashing lately while in Vegas and I get a blue screen the basically says. "...encountered a problem... if this is the first time that you are seeing this.... Be sure adequate disk space is available... Restart F8 in safe mode if needed... Disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing... And then in 100 seconds it does a memory dump and reboots.
It gives me a lot of numbers and letters address and a win32k.sys name.

Thanks

There is no sync to cursor for generated media events because they don't have 'time' associated with them.
As far as the rest of your problem, I'd be looking at resources. Maybe your graphics card isn't happy with something. Reduce graphic acceleration?
Do you have a VIA chipset by chance? Promise Controller?

If you have V5, the fastest way to make text appear to be pushed is to use a push transition with a transition envelope which will allow you to synch the text position exactly.
