Crash with DVDA 4

NickHope wrote on 9/16/2006, 12:06 AM
Started my first DVDA 4 project this morning. Dumped a 50 minute MPEG 2 (8000kbps elementary stream created in Cinemacraft Encoder Basic) on the timeline and it crashed as it was building the preview.

This is repeatable (on the same file at least) and doesn't happen when I drop the same file into DVDA 3.

AppName: dvdarch40.exe AppVer: 4.0.0.125 ModName: mcmpegin.dll

Will contact Sony with the details. In the meantime it's back to DVDA 3 for me.

Still getting these crashes in 4.0a with long CCE MPEG2 files.

I'll encode a Main Concept version for comparison.

Same error here. Uggghhhh... It was my first DVDA4 project as well. I'll file a bug report as well. I really hope this gets fixed soon, I'd hate to be stuck at DVDA 3. Madison, please fix this so we can use DVDA 4!

Time to vent,

I've had a support ticket in with Sony for 4 days now and have yet to get a reply on this issue. I'm really disappointed with this response time to an issue that several other people are having and is stopping me from using new software that I've paid for. I'm not interested in waiting several months to hit the next patch cycle so I can eventually use DVDA 4...

I can never argue with a good vent. :)

We've been working on this bug for a while now and might have a work-around. Simply uninstall DVDA 4.0a and then reinstall it.

In our testing, this fixed the problem. It seems that the bug is a combination of updating DVDA 4.0 to 4.0a and index files created for long .m2v files. We are still working on it, but I wanted to share our work-around now.

Thanks,
DaveS

Thanks for the workaround. It worked. I can pull CCE mpvs into DVDA 4 now and take advantage of all the new features. Please address or reply to these issues sooner next time, I really don't like venting and I want to sing praises about the new software.
