The same 8 bit project preview plays smooth on vegas 5, but it plays choppy on vegas 8 pro. on the same hardware. project settings are the same. the source material is just regular dv material. also getting many more crashes on vegas 8. vegas 5 hardly ever crashes - I can't remember the last time it crashed - it is rock solid. Again same project settings same, same material, on the same machine. not really looking for answers just thought I would share my experience. anyone else having this problem?

all the best

What's your specs? (fill them out in your profile)

A couple of us have experienced the same problem going from 7 to 8 but no conclusion has been given.

Please report it to Sony.

This seems to be a serious issue for some of us--see here.

On my system, V8 preview was always choppy, even if the preview window was tiny and/or downgraded to Draft quality. Something internal to V8 is the cause, I think. I've gone back to V7 for now.

I just completed a five minute project (consisting of jpegs and audio), and had the same issues with 8.a. Never was an issue with versions 5 or 7, and I'm running the same system. (3 GB RAM, Pentium 3.2) Also had problem rendering completed project. Read some of the solutions pertaining to adjusting the RAM, did that and still crashed randomly around 70% into it. Task manager was still bouncing near 100%. Shut down my firewall program, and was able to complete the render.

8.a is a resource hog.

Interesting. Which firewall program was that?
