Crashes way too much

I'm getting sick of this program. It crashes every 15 minutes, so i have to keep opening the program over an over. And it crashes for the dumbest stuff.

It always crashes cause I click a vid in the explorer folder and play it. I need to know what the clip is before i put it in the timeline. and one out of 10 times i view a vid, it freezes. or sometimes it just crashes. but mostly it says there's an exception. what does that mean.

Why so many bugs in this program? is there a way to fix it? is there a new version i could download without the bugs? thanks

This is a codec issue. Make sure you install the software and codecs that came with your camera.
If your source is a tv-tuner card: Vegas is not designed to edit tv recordings.

And yes, you should always work with the latest update (check 'my account') on this very site.

If you are trying to edit TV recordings or anything of that nature, you can convert the footage to a different codec (I recommend DV) and Vegas will stop crashing.

rodypolis - fill out your profile with your system specs & also let us know which version you're using and if you've got the latest patch for your version.

Options are limted out there (at least for AVCHD) which explains why Sony does not take the numerous bugs in Vegas seriously. Most of the crashes are simple fixes such as removing excess project media files, lowering the preview ram from 256 to 16,etc.

So errors when playing video out of an explorer folder now also has become a Vegas problem? Edit: /comment deleted/

Outside my window it starts to rain now. Hmmm? Ah, yes: Blame on Vegas.
