Crashes when I capture

Hi all. I've had both VV 3 and now version 4. I had been using a Dazzle DVC80 to capture analog video from security cameras and VHS recorders.

Suddenly every time I hit the capture button, my computer reboots! It shuts right down. This system had worked flawlessly for months.

Yesterday I purchased a new Sony Vaio computer. I downloaded the newest Vegas software again, bought a new Dazzle DVC80.

I hooked everything up, hit capture...and the computer rebooted! NOT very happy.

Can anyone offer some guidance?

Thanks

The fist thing I would do is return the Dazzle and get yourself a Canopus ADVC-50 or ADVC-100 and then delete everything in your system that relates to Dazzle, drivers, registry entries, software...everything. Then install the Canopus and try again. I would be willing to bet that will solve your problems. I don't think this is a Vegas problem at all.

What you have is a hardware problem. I do not know the Dazzle, but if it is USB then will put stress on your computer and force to reboot if your power supplay it is not strong enough. I had problem with USB web cam. Everytime I try to "fire up" the computer reboot. Upgrade the power supplay and problem gone. Verry rarely the software will force computer to reboot.
Never encounter problem with Vegas.
