Crashing + settings not saving

Mark-Williams wrote on 2/8/2023, 3:44 AM

Hello,

I've recently bought Sony Vegas Pro 20,

I'll probably get about 30 mins of editing in before my Sony Vegas tends to crash, I've noticed the frames section under the preview has three little blinking dots before the crash happens, no idea what it means and no idea how to fix it.

I also for example in my preferences have set it so that the media doesn't go offline whenever I click out of the application, as it tends to freeze for a little second when alt-tabbing back into the application, but every single time I close and re-open Sony Vegas those settings go back to default, so it doesn't save my settings for some reason and I can't figure out why.

Opening Sony Vegas gives me the welcome screen where you can open last projects etc which in the bottom right gives an option to no longer show this on start up, which even when disabling it, it still shows.

Can someone please explain what's going on here and how to stop my Sony Vegas from crashing so much? paying this amount of money for something that just crashes every 30 minutes is frustrating.

I've tried disabling "SO4" thing in the preferences along with disabling the "Open CL" option as advised from some youtube videos, but no luck with that either, helps a little but not perfect.

SPECS:

i9 12900K, 128GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3090#

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Mark

If you bought Vegas Pro from a website offering Sony Vegas Pro 20, you've unfortunately bought VP20 from a pirate website. The last version of Vegas Pro released by Sony was version 13 (in 2014), after which Sony sold the Vegas line of products to MAGIX (in 2016). I just call it "Sony" Vegas, sorry as it used to be call that so just used to that, it was 100% from the "Vegas" Site where I bought a "License" version for Vegas Pro 20, got the MAGIX email etc.

Odd that AVC in a MP4 container is opening using mcmp4plug2. That seems like a problem.

Undisable so4compound as the proper way to affect that is with preferences/ file io ("enable legacy AVC" which enables compoundplug.) I'd also undo any other fixes you found online.
