what encoding software do you have?

newfielander wrote on 9/4/2016, 7:27 PM

I was using Cyberlink PowerDirector.

I often feed output from PowerDirector to DVDAS, always in mpeg 2 format. I think this gives best and fastest results.

Better prepare the file in your video editor. Also, better to render it directly on the right bitrate to fit the entire video into a single DVD disk without the need for DVDA to rerender.

I'm still following Adobe Encore's guide to do project planning: https://helpx.adobe.com/encore/using/project-planning.html  ~ According to my calculation for 2 hour video, the video bitrate should less than 4.61 Mbps.

The other online calculator is http://dvd-hq.info/bitrate_calculator.php

Hi Set, I am using a 8.5gb, I want the best quality, so I'm sure that bitrate you mention was for a 4.7gb dvd?

set wrote on 9/13/2016, 9:39 AM

Yes... the bitrate I mention was for 4.7GB single layer disc. Since you are using 8.5GB Dual-layer disc, you can put 8.87 Mbps bitrate maximum... but I usually heard keeping it max. 6 Mbps.

For a 2hr DL-DVD I usually encode VBR with max 9mbps and lowest 3mbps, average of 7mbps.
