Creating an AC-3 CDR

I just found this looking into being able to encode the AC-3 files into a stereo wave. It gives a step by step of how to burn an AC-3 file to a CDR and be able to play it back in a DVD player and play back 5.1 surrond mixes. Good news..no DVDR needed if you're like myself and haven't taken the plunge yet!!!

If universal compatibility isn't a requirement one can of course just write a miniDVD: mix in Vegas, render as 5.1 Surround AC-3, prepare a DVD in DVD Architect but burn the files to CD-R with the software of one's choice.
