credit roll/ text problem- urgent!

tapit1 wrote on 6/24/2004, 9:37 AM
Until yesterday I was doing well with screenblast 3.0. I had rolling credits, though their placement was out of balance, but I figured I could correct that today.

However- today I can't edit or add text to ANY of the text fx. I can select what I want (in this case, credit roll) and drag it to the timeline. I can't drag it into the preview box as I had been doing it before. The dialog screen that allows me to add text doesn't come up when I press the FX box, or the whole event, with either the right or left key.

My hunch is that I may have inadvertently tripped a swtich that locks the effect into place. I need to do the credits ASAP! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I can't think of any control or setting that would do this.

However, i can suggest that you reset Movie Studio to it's default state and see if that helps. Quit Movie Studio, then hold down both the Ctrl and Shift keys while starting it again. This will reset all controls, options, switches, and settings to the original defaults. Unfortunately it will also reset everything you wanted changed as well, but at least you should be back running again.

Also make sure you have the most recent update of the software. (Just click on "download" at the top of this window.)

Seems to me this problem was addressed last build.

Doesn't seem to help at all.

Will I have to reinstall the whole program, do you think? If I do that, will I lose all my edited work?

I just bought it, Grisetti, at the beginning of this month. Updates since then???

If you bought the boxed version then you probably got a disc with the original release. The current release is 3.0b build 118.

Reinstalling shouldn't do anything different than resetting all the preferences. It's probably worth a try though. It's not like you're getting any editing done anyway until this problem is solved. :(

No, you won't lose your work in progress. It's save in another directory.

Did you say that installing the update didn't help? Hmm. Check "about" and find out which build you're running. As Chienworks said, it should be 3.0b.

Your install disk also has a repair utility. It kicks in automatically if you select "install" again.

If you choose to uninstall and then re-install, run RegCleaner (a free download) before you re-install to clean out your registry.

Installing version 3.0b over previous versions, though, should resolve the can't-edit-rolling-credits problem. In fact, I think that was one of the primary issues it addressed!

I'm really embarrassed about this folks, but I'm really grateful for all of the help you've given me here.

I upgraded 3.0 to 3.0b and then reinstalled everything. Lo and behold, the problem was solved! But what solved it was this. I had the text dialog box up the last time I was working and instead of shutting it, I slid it down below the bottom of the screen (don't ask why... it was very late and...). So obviously, when I went to use it today, I couldn't find it.

Thanks again for all of the help. If there's ever anything I can contribute, believe me I will!
