Credits on the left, picture on right....?

I was trying to have scrolling credits on the left side on black, and a picture on the right side.

The picture was taken from the video. The object was centered in the frame so I wanted to pan/crop the photo to put the image on the right.

I could not get this to work out. How can this be done? How can it be done with moving video on the right?

Tim,

Use a cookie cutter mask on the video track. I created a new one called "Side by side" from the Picture-in-picture template. Just set the shape to "Square", Border to "0.0", Size to "0.5", Center X to "1.0" and Center Y to "0.5", then save it as "Side-by-side".

Then using the pan/crop tool, click on the little arrow cross at the far left/bottom until it just points left and right. Then you can easily slide it left or right until the part of the video you want to see is in the preview window.

Then just add the credits and position it to your liking.

Thanks. Works great.

I didn't quite get this part though..

Sorry Tim,

I was just talking about the directional arrow icon on the Pan/Crop tool. It's located on the left toolbar at the bottom (of the Pan/Crop tab). When you hold your mouse over it, it says "Move Freely (X or Y)". Just click on it until it says "Move in X only (X)". Then you will be able to easily slide the Pan/Crop rectangle left or right to position the part of the video that you want to show on the right side.

Ahh, I get it. I wondered why that was that way. It makes sense now. It makes sure you don't mess up the vertical axis if you only want to move it side to side.

Cool. Thanks for your help.

I wonder how you all learn these neat tricks. I have read the pdf manual twice and it does not go into very much detail at all.

I mainly just play around to figure things out. I'm a computer geek, so these things make sense to me ;)

But if you like to read and would like to get into more detail than what the Videofactory manual provides, check out the Vegas manual. Much of what's there will apply to Videofactory.
