Crop/Fade In Effect - How to?

Hopefully the experts can help me make this effect I saw on TV one time. All I have is some still photos in the timeline. I want to start out with a view that just windows on one part of the photo, no zoom, panning or cropping, but there is a blackscreen surrounding the current view, then I want to fade in the rest of the photo to fill up the whole view. The original view window wouldnt change, it would just be a piece of the overall video with the rest fading in a few seconds later. How do I do this?
thx.

Tygrus, check the http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/help/kb site. I just uploaded a file that I *think* is what you are asking for. Takes less time to make the veg than to type the instructions if it is what you need. It's called "Photofade" and will be at the top of the veg page, as it's the most recent upload.
